But more than all these festivals, I was interested in one annual event in which I played the central part-the celebration of the anniversary of my birth/This was the day of excitement for me. Early in the morning I was weighed in a huge balance against some bags full of wheat and other articles which were then distributed to the poor and there I arrayed myself in new clothes and received presents and later in the day there was a party. I felt the hero of the occasion. My chief grievance was that my birthdays came so rarely. Indeed I tried to start an agitation for more frequent birthdays I did not realize then that a time would come when birthdays would become unpleasant reminders of advancing age.

नगर भ्रमण के दौरान राजकुमार सिद्धार्थ ने एक बुद्ध, एक बीमार तथा एक सब को देखा। उनका हृदय दुख से भर गया। उन्होंने निश्चय किया कि वह लोगों को इस दुख से निकालने का कोई रास्ता ढूंदेंगे। उन्होंने एक रात चुपके से राजमहल छोड़ दिया। गहन चिन्तन के पश्चात् उनको इसका मिल गया और वे गौतम बुद्ध के नाम से जाने जाने लगे।

Ans — During his tour of the city, Prince Siddhartha saw a Buddha, a sick one and all. His heart was filled with sorrow. He decided that he would find some way to get people out of this misery. He left the palace secretly one night. After deep contemplation, he got it and he came to be known as Gautam Buddha.
